Government Employees

Typically, Government employees have substantial benefit plans offered by their city, state, county, municipal, or federal employer that provide a portion of their income in the event of a disability. These are not traditional group disability plans. In most cases, they are tied into the employee’s retirement plan and are based on their length of employment. Therefore, many are ineligible for any additional individual coverage. However, several carriers offer specific programs that coordinate with these plans and issue coverage that wraps around them. See the Social Insurance & Government Plans file in Broker Resources.
